Semantic decomposition of four Quranic words

In this paper, the author proposes Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) semantic decompositions of four difficult-to-translate quranic Arabic words using (Goddard Wierzbicka 2014, 2021). This is first study to propose an explicit explication these core Islamic lexical items, which are foundational for spiritual worldview almost two billion followers Islam in world today. The word considered ras?l , refers intermediaries sent by Allah humans and used Quran alongside nab? has same meaning. An NSM contrasted with explications biblical Hebrew n?b?’ ‘prophesy’ nab?’ ‘prophet’. English translations Quran, usually rendered as ‘messenger’ ‘prophet’, yet misleadingly inadequate. Three further concepts examined, have received most diverse unsatisfactory renderings Quran: shirk ‘association’ k?fir ‘disbeliever’ refer dimensions disbelief, ittaq? a verb, cautious piety. use overcomes resistance terms translation into English, means fine-grained primes.
